Rites

Marking the passages of life.

These are the rites of the Church, kept in written order by the Council and administered by its ministers.

Marriage

Our ordained ministers solemnize marriage, in Arizona and wherever the law of the place recognizes an ordained minister. We meet with the couple beforehand, we write the ceremony with you, and we file the license properly. Any faith, or none; any two adults the law permits to marry.

Blessing of a child

A naming and blessing, with the parents' promises and the congregation's, in a gathering or in the home.

Dedication of a home or a work

A short rite of blessing for a new home, a new undertaking, a new season.

Memorial

A service of remembrance and thanksgiving for a life, at a graveside, a home, or our place of gathering.

Reception of a member

The public affirmation of the Statement of Faith and signing of the Covenant, in a gathering.

Ordination

The setting apart of a minister after study, formation, and examination by the Council of Elders.

Asking for a rite

Members may ask any minister. Others are welcome to ask too; the Church often marries and buries people who are not its members. Write to the Clerk with what you need and when. There is no fee for a rite. A gift to the Church is welcome and is never required.
